Hello, and thank you for taking a look at my work. As hopefully you picked up on my name is Daniel Bedell. It was in the tiny town of Avon Park, Florida that I grew up. Avon Park is made up mostly of lakes, alligators, orange groves, golf courses, old people and rednecks. I had my first taste of photography at the NewsSun newspaper where I was a sports writer and figured I wouldn't mind the ten extra dollars I would get paid for shooting the pictures of the sports games I was covering.
It was at Andrews University, in South West Michigan, that I really fell in love with the medium. I studied both digital and film capture and lighting. I quickly found that my favorite subjects were human and persued that vein with my work. I finished a degree that combined photography and creative writing. After school I made the move to the hamlet known as Baltimore Maryland where I still reside.
My passion is people and my love is photography, and together I have found they make a great pairing. The process of getting to know a subject and trying to pull out their personality and infuse some of my own to create a piece of art brings me more excitement and joy than almost anything else I have found in my life.
Hopefully, my photographs make you smile, laugh and perhaps even tap into your sentimental side. I have had the privilege of shooting all over the world from India to Fiji to Mexico to Gary Indiana! But, everywhere I go I am drawn to humanity in all it's glory and all it's sorrow. That same humanity has never failed to capture my curiosity and inspire my creativity.
